Bloomfolio (bloomfolio.app) is a homeschool compliance tracking, activity logging, and document generation product for families. This page explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
This is a plain-language policy for parents—not legal advice, and not a substitute for reading the full product experience or asking us a question if something is unclear. If we change this policy in a material way, we will update the date above and, when appropriate, notify account holders.
Who this applies to
This policy covers information processed when you visit bloomfolio.app, create an account, use Free / Essential / Family plans, talk with Sage (our AI companion), generate documents, or contact us for support.
Bloomfolio currently supports families in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, Florida, California, North Carolina, and Texas.
What we collect
Depending on how you use Bloomfolio, we may process:
- Account information — email address, name (if you provide it), authentication details (including Google sign-in identifiers when you choose that path), and plan / billing status.
- Family & school records you enter — student profiles, activities, hours, subjects, compliance-related notes, portfolio materials, and documents you generate or upload.
- Sage / AI inputs & outputs — messages you send to Sage, activity descriptions, photo-to-description requests, and generated text returned to your account. Treat anything you paste into Sage as something we must process to provide the feature.
- Usage & technical data — rough product analytics, device/browser type, IP address, and logs needed to keep the service secure and reliable. We aim for privacy-first analytics (no selling data for ads).
- Support messages — whatever you choose to send us when you ask for help.
We do not require you to put Social Security numbers or payment card numbers into Sage. Billing is handled through our payment processor (for example, Stripe) so that card details are not stored in Bloomfolio's application database.
How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide and improve compliance tracking, logging, document generation, and Sage
- Secure accounts, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot
- Send transactional email (reminders you enable, billing notices, security alerts). Reminder emails are a convenience—not a guarantee that you will meet a deadline or a replacement for checking requirements yourself
- Process subscriptions, trials, and refunds
- Comply with law when we are legally required to
We do not sell your family's data. We do not use your student records or Sage conversations to advertise to you on other sites.
AI / Sage specifically
Sage helps you log learning and draft documentation. To do that, prompts and relevant account context are sent to AI providers we use under contract as data processors on our behalf. We use those providers to generate responses for your account—not to train public marketing models on your children's schoolwork when we can avoid it under our provider agreements.
You control what you type or upload. Prefer the minimum needed for the task. You can export or delete account data as described below.
Sharing
We share information only with:
- Service providers who help us run Bloomfolio (hosting, database, email, payments, AI inference)—bound to use data for providing their service to us
- You, when you export or share a schedule/document link you create
- Authorities, if required by law or to protect safety / integrity of the service
We do not sell personal information.
Security
We use industry-standard protections appropriate to a small SaaS product, including encryption at rest (AES-256) for stored application data as described on our pricing page. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please use a strong password and protect your login.
Retention, export, and deletion
We keep account and product data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward as needed for backups, legal obligations, or dispute resolution.
You can export or delete your data from account settings (one-click flows where the product offers them). Deletion removes your primary account records from active systems; residual copies may remain briefly in encrypted backups until those rotate.
Children
Bloomfolio is built for parents and caregivers. We do not knowingly market accounts to children. Student information is entered by adults managing the household account. If you believe a child has created an account directly, contact us and we will help remove it.
Cookies & tracking
We use cookies/sessions needed to keep you signed in and operate the product. We do not run advertising trackers that sell your identity. Privacy-friendly site analytics may be used to understand aggregate traffic.
